Facebook - FQL - Page Friend Likes

Facebook - FQL - Page Friend Likes

For the new project I currently working on, I need to focus on Facebook's Android SDK in more detail as I did in the past. A couple of months ago I had to integrate Facebook functionalities like login/logout, image uploading and status posting for the Next Liberty Theatre - Photo Component - it was not a big throw. In this new project the general focus is on lcoation-based augmented reality in combination with social media like Facebook.

iPad4 a slap in community's face?

iPad4 a slap in community's face?

Besides the introduction of the iPad mini, Apple introduced the iPad 4th generation which was a little bit unexpected. Ok, Apple announced previously that in the end of the year there will be a new version of the iPad3 because there were some overheating problems and moreover the weight should be reduced. However on October 24th Apple presented the iPad4 with a "completely" new hardware. This step courts the Apple's community resentment and I can empathize with them. After only six month the iPad3 lost noticeable its high level of price. I hope Apple has one ace in the hole to calm the waves because in the last few months Apple had more publicity by bad news than with its great innovative products - the iPhone5 with weak hardware specifications is just chasing its competitors, iOS6 with its buggy map service was a big laugher and after that the quality of the iPhone left a lot to be desired. All this together is a noticeable disappointment in Apple's community – I personally count me into this community, however in the past months Apple started to annoy me with its decreasing quality of service, products and innovations.

iPad mini, a real competetion?

iPad mini, a real competetion?

This article exceptionally won't deal with the typical development stuff. As most of you already know, Apple has launched its iPad mini which should be a competition to smaller tablets like Asus Nexus 7. After the upsurge under the guru Steve Jobs, Apple's innovation motor starts more and more to stutter. In this article I want to present some of my personal opinion respective the iPad mini and if it can take the competition with tablets like the Asus Nexus 7.

iOS Image Manipulation - scale, move and rotate image

iOS Image Manipulation - scale, move and rotate image

A few weeks ago I've implemented a really interessting customer order, I really looked forward. For the new iOS app the customer needed a "photo theatre" component where the user can choose a so called coulisse. In this app a coulisse is an image e.g. a 80's haircut, animal costume etc. with a transparent area. Then the user can choose either a photo from the image gallery or he can take a photo with the camera. If both images are selected, he can move, scale and rotate the taken photo as long as it fits into the coulisse. If the user is satisfied with the result, he can save the image the app's gallery.

First I did some research because I had no idea how to implement the image manipulation by using the iOS SDK. So I found this really useful article from Roger Chapman that look perfectly for my problem.

cheers,
Chris

iOS Image Gallery

iOS Image Gallery

A few weeks ago I did an implementation for a smaller project, where the user should have the possibility to take an overview of his personal images created by the app. In this case the images are not saved to the device’s photo library, the images are stored in the app’s directory. Therefore it was not possible to use the photo library provided by the iOS SDK. For this reason I did some web search and found a really nice and quite easy solution fulfilling my requirements on GITHub.

cheers,
Chris
